Glade Electronic Music Festival 09

It's louder, later, longer. It's this year's UK electronic music festival with a mixture of dance, techno, and psychedelic. With more than ten stages and featuring a lineup including Underworld, Squarepusher, Booka Shade, Carl Craig, Plump DJs, Adam Beyer, Juan Atkins, Femi Kuti, Nitin Sawhney, Freeland, X Dream, Filthy Dukes, and hundreds more, it's the place to see underground electronic bands that are cutting it today.

There will be two new areas this year. The Carmaggedon area, described as a post apocalypse space housing multiple venues and hosted by Breaksday, Overkill, NSB.co.uk (formerly Nu Skool Breaks) and Cool and Deadly (hosted by Fabric dubsteppers Dublime and Kiss' Jay Cunning). And Avalon - a festival within a festival dedicated to Psytrance. Originating from the psychedelic scene of the 60s, Psytrance is a lifestyle in its own right. And it's alive and well at Glade 2009. The organizers are also going for the wow factor with surreal 3D installations to create 3D otherworldly spaces.

The Glade festival began life in 2001 as a stage at Glastonbury and has grown over the past six years to a festival in its own right. With bars, markets, and countless things to see and do. It won Best Dance Festival at this year's UK Festival Awards and is known as one of Europe's best underground electronic music festivals.

The Glade is in a new location this year (due to noise restrictions at the old site). It runs from Thursday July, 16 to Sunday July, 19 at the Matterly Bowl near Winchester, Hampshire.
