Tangerine Dream Gate of Saturn Live at the Lowry, Manchester

Well what can you say? Tangerine Dream is undoubtedly one of the all-time-greats, a band that's been a leading light in electronic music since the earliest days. It's something of a testament to their greatness that, unlike many groups who started on the same journey back in the 60s, that TD is still going as strong as ever. And even more so that they're not simply churning out their old tracks but are instead still up there with the best, still innovating and still coming up with a fresh new sound that works for 2011.

Guitar Solo by Edgar

An added treat saved for an encore was a guitar solo by Edgar W Froese, the founding father of Tangerine Dream. Edgar deserves to be recognised as one of the great guitarists of rock with his own unique and inimitable style. While many guitarists might push too hard, perhaps attempting to prove their prowess, Edgar's measured and controlled playing style allows his true genius to shine through.
